The weather is getting so nice and the spring is filling up with outdoor activities. I just recently purchased this Free People top and am ready for it to be just a hair warmer so I can wear it. I love that this top follows this crop trend, but is also long enough to cover my stomach. It also has a slight peplum which helps accentuate the narrowest part of your body. Since this shirt is low cut in the front and on the sides, I threw on a white v-neck camisole that stops shorter than the actual shirt to cover up a tad more. I also decided jeans would be better than shorts because I don’t want to feel too exposed. I’m sharing 3 looks with you all today. 1. daytime 2. day to night 3. bonus! Keep reading to find out what the bonus is!
***The trick to limiting mid-drift with a cropped style shirt is to pair it with high waisted bottoms. I have been wearing these jeans non stop since I got them. (You can check out more looks over on my Instagram!)
***On another note…the dog is making a cameo in some of these pics. LOL!
DAY TO NIGHT -just add a cute, heeled sandal in a nude color, leather jacket and fun clutch and you’re good to go!
BONUS! -this shirt is reversible! I think this white side will be great for summer activities

Lately, I feel like all it does is rain! When it’s dreary, I tend to dress to match the weather. Today, I decided I would NOT put on black pants and instead I would think about spring coming up! I know a lot of people still have a hard time wrapping their minds around white jeans after Labor Day before Memorial day, but I’m sharing some looks with white jeans to begin the transition to spring.
- I love this sweater! I featured it on the blog here and on my Instagram with jeans and a button up striped shirt. I’ve always loved a navy and white combination and the floral pattern makes this top feel spring ready. It’s also so fun with the sequins!
2. To combat the old, “don’t wear white after Labor Day” pair it with neutrals. The white pants make the look brighter and give it a fresh vibe, but neutrals will allow you to have a comfortable balance. Also, you CANNOT go wrong with an army green jacket to throw on in the ever changing spring weather; it’s a great neutral and it is not as harsh as black.
3. Another great piece to incorporate when transitioning between seasons is an over sized cardigan. It will keep you warm like the jacket, but gives a more laid back feel. It will also be longer than most jackets and will cover your rump if you are a little apprehensive about sporting that TOOSHY in white jeans.
The REAL trick to feeling confident in your white jeans is the jeans themselves. My tips for buying them are: buy a thick, strong, non stretch jean pair that is not see through. Anything with too much stretch tends to cling. The thickness will help hold everything in and you won’t see every bump/curve of your leg. Think old school thick Levi’s, NOT leggings.

Ever since I was in the 3rd(…and 4th) grade and dressed up as a hippie for Halloween, I have loved flare jeans. They lengthen and slim your legs. What’s not to love? The trick is to find a pair that is NOT too tight at the top, has a slightly higher rise (or high waist if you’re into that:), and a fairly large bell at the bottom – hence the name bell bottom. The bell at the bottom will give you a nice proportion that slims the legs. Also, make sure your flares are long enough to wear with a heel and that they don’t “high water” or come up to high. This will have the opposite effect, shortening the leg. You want to see just a peep of your shoe.
Here are some examples of people doing it right. Yours truly included LOL ~ sorry for quality; took it on my phone…

Since my flares are old, I am attaching some options in different price ranges. Hope you find a pair that make you as happy as mine make me! And, don’t fear the flare!
Nordstrom – Hudson Jeans – Holly High Waist Flare Jeans $215
Dillards – 7 For All Mankind Wide Leg Flare Dojo Jean – $159
Target – Women’s High Rise Flare Jeans – Universal Thread – Medium Wash $27.99 – These come in short, regular, and long. If you wanted to get them to fit with heels/wedges you could get the longer version. If you are a flats girl, you can get short or regular and wear with cute sneakers or sandals.
Nordstrom – Lucky Brand Ginger Bootcut Jeans – $99
****I know cropped flares are coming back. I HATED this look at first, but I have to admit it is growing on me…maybe I’ll try a pair soon! Just remember you are either going full flare to the floor or cropped NOT in between.
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! It’s one of the biggest date nights of the year so I wanted to share a Valentine’s look with you. I just got this shirt from H&M (wearing a 10) and I think it’s the perfect, flirty shirt for a special date night. I also added some pops of pink to make it festive for Cupid’s big day!
The trick to showing off the detail in this shirt is to wear a beige/nude camisole underneath. The contrast between the skin color of the camisole and the white of the lace will highlight the detailing in the shirt. The mistake most people make is wearing a white camisole underneath, but all white can end up looking flat.
I love the tie detail in the back of this shirt! It’s sort of unexpected in an already detailed shirt, but it doesn’t feel like too much. This crisscross opening shows a little extra skin without being too revealing.
Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day! How are you going to show your festivity? Or do you? Leave me a comment!

Ever since Christmas break, I’ve been on a roll with my workouts: cardio, lifting, stretching, the works. But this last weekend I hit a wall. So, I’m putting on my new workout gear and motivating myself to get back into it! I just spoiled myself with these 7/8 black leggings from LuLu. They were pricey, but the quality is totally worth it. They are thick, high waisted, and they hit in a super flattering spot just above the ankle. I also just got this shirt on sale at Old Navy. I bought it to try something different and wasn’t sure I’d like it, but after wearing it a bit, I really like the way it fits and shows off your sports bra. You can go strappy and fun or simple and sleek. The tie and ruched part pull the bottom of the shirt up so it doesn’t hit straight across your hips and thighs and draw attention to the widest part of your body. It also reminds me of a half tuck, so you know I like it! LOL
Workout tip: Have you jump roped lately? It’s a great way to get cardio in if you don’t have a lot of time and it’s fun!

I’ve seen leather leggings all over fashion sites, but I’ve been a little intimidated by them. I bought these last year and this is the FIRST time I’ve actually put them on. I tried to pair them with things most people have in their closets….a black sweater, white scarf, and some kind of sneaker. You may already be wearing this look with black jeans; to mix it up just swap out the jeans and throw on some leather leggings or moto leggings! If you aren’t comfortable showing your derriere, just make sure your sweater comes down long enough. And, if all black is too boring for you, try throwing on a scarf or sweater with a subtle print. This will give the outfit some contrast and dimension. Since the leggings are tight on the bottom half, I would stick to looser or chunkier fabrics on the top portion. And, if you want to dress it up, grab a simple black pump or sandal.
Here are some links to leather leggings that are similar to mine and some moto leggings that are also super popular!

BRRRRRR! Y’all it is cold outside! Since we were stuck at home for this snow day, I decided to take advantage of having a photographer and snap this AMAZING leopard coat (similar here). Some people may feel limited by the print, but it’s more versatile than you think as long as you treat it like a neutral. I layered mine with this deep green, bell-sleeved, velvety sweater from my last post. I’ve also been wearing these jeans and shoes on repeat (links to all 3 here).
Here you can really see the texture of the coat and the sweater. They are both so COZY! Thank goodness because it is BELOW FREEZING outside…in Houston! Mixing metals is kind of my thing so I wanted to explain how I do it. I paired these gold earrings and necklace (link here) with with this silver ring ( link here). The trick to mixing metals successfully is to wear a piece of jewelry that has both gold and silver in it to tie it all together. Lots of earrings, bracelets, and watches are two toned and they make it easy to wear both silver and gold in your other accessories. My go to is my gold and silver David Yurman bracelet, unfortunately it is not pictured here…sorry!
Happy snow day cuties! Stay warm and safe!
