Cut offs craze

shortsLet me start this post off by saying, I almost decided this would be the year that I WOULD NOT put jean shorts on. Then, as I scrolled through Instagram and Pinterest, I kept finding myself “liking” and “pinning” all these cut off shorts outfits. I decided I would try to find the perfect pair and I learned some things along the way:

  1. Waist – a higher waist will elongate the leg. Also, any short, shorts that are also low rise tend to look a little risque. You can still have them fairly short, but the shorts won’t look as small with a higher waist.
  2. Fit – the fit is super important…DUH! A wider opening in the leg will make your legs sticking out look thinner. When the leg is tight, it tends to have a sausage rapper effect…not good. And, just like a shirt tail hem thins the body, a slight rise on the fray will slim the leg.
  3. Inseam –  When I first started on this quest, I was super discouraged because everything I tried on left me feeling too exposed (sorry, I just can’t do the butt cheek thing…). Many of the shorts out there have about a 1 inch inseam. The ones I found have a good 3-4 inches providing a little more coverage. They also go past the thickest part of your thigh emphasizing the thinner part.
