Black OTK Boots

I have been eyeing these bad boys for a little over a year now, and I finally decided to try them out. These are my second pair of OTK boots and I’m loving trying new looks with them. The most important thing to remember when wearing a statement piece like these boots is to keep the rest of your outfit simple. Here are a few ways I’ve tried styling them.

T-Shirt Dilemma

teachers dressing

It’s true teachers wear t-shirts to school a lot! At my school, we wear them every Tuesday and Friday, some Wednesdays and special weeks all week. Even though it seems easy to wake up in the morning and throw on a t-shirt and jeans, I get tired of wearing the same thing all the time. So, I thought I’d write a post about some different ways to wear a t-shirt that shake up the t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes look.

Well you all already know my leather obsession this season. And, I love when I get a photobomb! Matching the Adidas with the skirt and t-shirt gave the leather skirt a more casual vibe.

Adding a jacket always pulls a look together and gives it that completer piece. It also spices things up when you add a fun shoe.

Adding a flare and tying this shirt up totally changes the look.

Fancy your t-shirt up a little with a simple heel and a shiny texture or flirty skirt.

I call this my lumberjack look LOL! It makes me want to go chop fire wood or get a Christmas tree.

We all know there will always be those days when you just have to throw on a t-shirt and jeans. I know, I know…tennis shoes are comfortable, but with such a big sneaker trend right now, you can find a pair that are comfy and cute (like these fun pom-pom ones I just picked up at JCPenney) to keep your look on trend.

feeling FANtastic

The Astros play the Yankees tonight and I can’t wait to watch! #gostros Today at work we could wear our Astros gear, but it is also the start of parent-teacher conferences. So, I didn’t want to look frumpy in my t-shirt. I got this new grey shirt from Academy and its a men’s small. The dark grey looks great with white and I love the huge logo. It reminds me of a graphic tee. It was also FINALLY cool enough today to wear a light jacket, so I decided to wear this neutral army green color. And…the best shoes for this 60s in the AM and 80 in the PM are open toe booties. Thank you TOMS!

OMG! I just realized I was still wearing my ID badge on my arm in the picture above! Whoops! #reallife

I love these earrings because they “go” with the blue and orange of the Astros, but they aren’t too matchy-matchy.

Look who decided to photobomb! She’s such a great prop. Secretly I think she just wanted to play with the ball, but I’m so glad she joined in!

Here’s to dressing up the regular old t-shirt for game day! GO ‘STROS!!!!

Fall, are you there?

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything and I’m finally feeling like I can get some posts up. It’s officially fall, but you wouldn’t know it here. Yesterday, we were lucky and it stayed in the 70s-ish. Not so much today. Even though it doesn’t feel like fall, I’m itching to wear my cooler weather clothes. I’ve been trying to incorporate some fall looks in with summer pieces and I thought I’d share what I’ve been wearing. Hopefully cooler weather is headed our way! Until then, enjoy these gems.

I wore this outfit on the left with my brown loafers to work, then mixed it up for a casual night with some girlfriends. I threw in my suede loafers and my new mules to give it a slightly, although not really, fall look.

This look is almost completely summer, but I threw on these KILLER blush suede shoes that I found at Target! They are classic and trendy at the same time. The suede made me feel like I could pull off an almost all white outfit after labor day. Shhh!

I am in LOVE with this skirt. I saw a similar one on a friends blog (Cstyle – you should check it out!) and knew I had to have one. It looks great with sweaters and booties and it’s such a great alternative to the black jeans that even my first graders told me I wear all the time! LOL I will admit though, I tried to wear this outfit to a barbecue and was SO hot. I think I’ll repeat it when the weather drops….if that ever happens.

Ever feel like you just need to wear your suede and fringe? no? just me? I’ve had this shirt in my closet since this time last year and I’ve never warn it. I have been seeing all these trendy ladies at music festivals lately and thought I’d try out my own festival look. Too bad I’m not going to one…

Last, but not least is a look for another casual night out with some girlfriends. The weather was back up to 90, but I was just dying to wear my new velvet, bow shoes! My feet will sweat, but I don’t care. You’ll see these babies A LOT!

All right that’s all I’ve got for now. Apparently, I wear a lot of suede LOL! Promise to do more soon!

Hat Trick

Problem: This morning I didn’t have time to do the full hair ordeal before I had to go meet some people. Solution: The fedora. I threw my hair in a low, messy bun sort of to the side with some pieces hanging down around my face and topped it off with my hat. Then I knew I wanted to keep the look light and airy, so I paired it with this flowy tank top and white jeans. I also picked these pointy toe, soft leather loafers from ALDO. They give this look a little more sophistication than my usual flip flops. And, BONUS, they are so comfortable. To finish up my look, I kept my purse in the same hue of blue, but with an added pop of color.

Confession: I’ve worn this hat a million times to the pool, but never out with an outfit. I was a little nervous I couldn’t pull it off, but decided to try it anyway. I actually got multiple compliments! #fedora

Prepster 3 Ways

This is something I wore to work back in March. It was a little chilly in the morning, but I knew it was going to warm up later in the day. I threw this sweater on because it is such a good layering piece. It is crop length so it shows your shirt tail, but it also doesn’t gather at the bottom; instead, it hangs loose and sort of wide. This makes it easy to pair with an oxford style shirt so it doesn’t get bunchy where the shirt meets the sweater.

I actually did not need to take it off all day, but when I got home, I started playing with different ways I could have worn it. I love the 1st look of rolling up the sleeves and tying the sweater around my waist. It gives this preppy outfit a slightly edgier vibe. The 3rd look goes in the opposite direction making it look slightly more conservative. I love that the shoes work with all three of the different styles and they are so comfortable.
